At a glance condition of Ballia

Ballia is one of the backward districts of U.P. behind the State border of Bihar, located 167 kms. away from the city of Varanasi. While rests of the areas of the state have been able to develop a great deal this district has remained far behind in terms of socio-economic progress. Underdevelopment of the district may be attributed to the fact the 90% population of the district living in rural areas and rural areas development has not kept pace with that of urban areas throughout the country. The Main occupation of the people here is agriculture, but most of the land holding is concentrated in the hand of few rich formers belonging to the upper cast. The soil texture being mostly grandy and sandy loam, agricultural productivity is very poor the status of education is extremely poor, since there are no any industries in this area there is a large scale of migration of people for search of income & employments. Health facilities are negligible, Social evils are rampart & the district has the dubious distribution of being a highly criminalized the most sufferers here are the poor, Dalit, Deprived & Marginalized such as & the women who are subjected to a lot of abuse & exploitation. Here in large scale of child labour, child abuse and many cases of child related.
